Welcome to Cornwall & Devon Land Rover Club's website.
We are one of the largest and most successful Land Rover clubs in the whole of the United Kingdom and hold in excess of 30 competitions each year. These cover several disciplines ranging from trials on a converted lawnmower for the kids, to more serious trials of varying difficulty for the adults in their Land Rovers. And finally, what many consider to be the Blue Riband event, the Competitive Safari which requires a very high degree of vehicle preparation in order to achieve the quickest lap times over a set course. (Take your brain out for this one!!)
Almost all competitions take place on a Sunday and they are spread throughout the two counties over the course of the year. All of our competitions are run in accordance with rules laid down by the Motor Sports Association and the Association of Land Rover Clubs. The beauty of this is that you can take part in other clubs events and you know you will be playing to the same rules.
If it's Green Lanes that float your boat we have two 'Green Lane Blokes', one for Devon and one for Cornwall, though you may need a translator when speaking to the Cornish one. Whilst they do not organize green lane runs, they will offer advice on lanes in their respective counties and help with map marking.
We also have camping weekends in the summer which are great fun for all the family and are usually very sociable in the evening! Our charity weekend in June is open to other clubs and normally raises several thousand pounds. Once again its great fun as there is a theme for the weekend and most people will be in some form of fancy dress. The biggest night of the year is the prize giving dinner which will be at the Eagle House Hotel in Launceston this year.
Hopefully you will enjoy our website and find lots more information about who we are, what we do and what we do it in. Our aim as a club is to promote the Land Rover marque in all its guises and to enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded people. This could be simply as a spectator, by taking part or by helping as a marshal. Whichever you choose, be prepared for all types of weather, plenty of mud and the odd screaming competitor/passenger. We try to make everyone welcome and look forward to seeing you at our events.

The Club holds competitions roughly every fortnight and more frequently during the summer months. The three main types of competition which we run are Competitive Safari, CCV & RTV.
CCV & RTV
RTV (Road Taxed Vehicle) trials and CCV (Cross Country Vehicle) trials are basically the same apart from the severity. RTVs should be non-damaging and with a few minor additions you can take part in your ordinary road going Land rover. The vehicles are more specialised for CCV as they require a roll cage and the events are pretty much 'anything goes'. For a trial we set out 8 sections, each one made of 12 pairs of canes (gates) which define the course. The idea is to get as far as possible without hitting a gate and without stopping. One of the best things about trials is that we all get to stand around and have a laugh while everyone else has their turn. And if you want to be involved without driving, you can always become a marshal with the minimum of training.
Comp Safari

A Comp Safari is a timed event where a vehicle has to complete a set number of laps (normally between 10 and 15) of a marked out course. Each lap is timed and additional time penalties added for hitting course markers. Lap times are recorded and when all laps are complete the winner would be the driver with the lowest total time.
TYRO & JTV

We also hold 3 camping events per year when we put on a Tyro (Ancient Latin for 'Beginner') trial and JTV (Junior Trials vehicle [ride on lawnmower with roll cage]). The Tyro can be driven by anyone from the age of 13 and the JTV is for 8 year olds upwards.
